LEVEL 3 MOTORSPORT AND VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY
Jacob studied Level 3 Motorsport and Vehicle Technology at North Kent College from 2019 to 2021 and now works as a Composite Technician for McLaren Formula 1 team. Here he tells us about his time at the College and his journey since.
Why did you choose North Kent College?
The course suited what I wanted to do in the future.
What would you say were the best three things about studying at North Kent College?
The tutors, the support and the facilities.
How has North Kent College helped your career?
The Motorsport tutors helped me to better myself in the industry and gave me the necessary skills to take the next step.
Where do you now work?
I currently work for McLaren Formula 1 team as a Composite Technician.
What has been your route getting to your current position?
I studied for two years and then did an apprenticeship at my current workplace.
Would you recommend studying at the College and why?
I can only comment on my course, in which case yes! The theory and practical experience was very helpful in helping me gain the right skills.
Any other anecdotes or information you would like to share with us?
The credit has to go to my tutors in Motorsport (Nick, Antony, John etc) for helping throughout the duration of the course.
Describe your whole college experience and how it has enabled you to progress.
College was a good learning curve before going into my career, I made new friends and learnt new skills, which allowed me to reach my full potential.
What would be the piece of advice you would give to someone thinking of coming to college or specifically coming to North Kent College?
If you have a passion for your course, go for it. The support received from tutors will help you develop yourself and build your future.
