FREE Shuttle Bus

North Kent College offers students and staff a FREE Shuttle Bus service to help get to the Dartford campus, as it is located slightly out of the town centre.

Student Oyster Cards from £20 a year

Dartford Station is now within the Oyster card scheme in zone 8, so you can use your Oyster Card all the way into Dartford and then take our free shuttle bus to the campus. 
If you live within the London Boroughs you can apply for one of the Student Oyster Card schemes to travel to Dartford town centre, via London Buses. The 16+ Oyster Card costs £20 and will give you FREE travel on London buses for the year and half price adult fares to Dartford on the rail network. If you are 18 as of the 31st August you can still apply for a 16+ Oyster Card as long as you are still in full time education. 

The 18+ Student Oyster Card will cost £20 to register and can give you 30% off London bus travel for the year when purchasing a Travel Card.

Arriva Discounted Travel

All students at NKC can benefit from reduced travel costs with Arriva buses when purchasing a 4 weekly Thameside or South East Student Saver ticket. Also for 16-21 year olds only a discounted annual ticket payable by monthly direct debit using the college's promotional code. 

The Thameside Student Saver ticket allows you to have unlimited travel within the Thameside Zone. 

The South East Saver ticket allows travel on all Arriva services in Kent and East Sussex; excluding services operated by Transport for London and Park and Ride services. 

This is also available to students travelling from the Medway area to Dartford.

The South East and Thameside Student Saver tickets are only available online. To buy your tickets online at the special rate, you will need to use a promotional code, which is available from 30th August 2016 from the main reception at North Kent College. For information on prices please download theArriva Saver Prices or go to the Arriva website which includes a secure link to purchase tickets.

Please note: You will need to show your student ID when using the ticket to travel. Please ensure when buying your ticket that your ID is valid for the period of travel covered by your ticket.

KCC 16+ Travel Card

Students who are 19 or under as at 31st August 2016, and are residents of Kent (i.e. household which pays Council Tax to a Kent District Council for KCC Services).

Applications may be made online directly to Kent County Council here by the 15th July at the latest to receive the Travel Card for the start of term, applications may be made from the 1st June. The cost of a Travel Card for the full academic year (1st September- 31st August) is £400. If you apply later than this you may wish to consider applying for the Travel Card to start from Term 2 at a reduced cost of £340, and purchase an Arriva Student Saver ticket, using the College promotional code for the first term.

The Travel Card will be sent to the college and the student will be able to collect the Travel Card from the college reception once the student is enrolled and full payment has been made via debit or credit card.

If you're coming from Greenwich or Eltham, you can catch the132 to Bexleyheath and change to the 96 to Dartford where you can catch the FREE Shuttle Bus. 

More information on bus routes is available on the Arriva Buswebsite or the  here web page. The only public bus route that serves the site is the 429, which stops outside the gates in Oakfield Lane.

Peak time: 0800-1100 and 1500-1930 - Every 10 to 15 minutes
Off peak : 1100 until 1500 - one bus every 25 minutes

Travelling by Train

The closest train station to the Dartford campus is Dartford Station which is in Oyster card Zone 8. You can catch the FREE North Kent College Shuttle Bus from the station to the campus. Alternatively you can catch the 477, which will take you to Oakfield Lane. To plan your journey by train please use the Southeastern Railways or Transport for London websites.  

Travelling by car

If driving to the Dartford campus you can get here easily on the A2. 

If coming from Bluewater, you can take the Dartford Heath exit on the A2 (signposted for Wilmington, Footscray and the A2018, then take the 1st exit on roundabout. Turn left at the next roundabout then follow the road, going over two roundabouts. After the bridge that goes over the A2, you will find the campus on the Left. Please enter via Gate B or C. 

If coming from Bexleyheath on the A2 come off at the Dartford Heath exit (signposted for Wilmington, Footscray and the A2018), at the roundabout take the 3rd exit towards Wilmington. Turn left at the next roundabout then follow the road, going over two roundabouts. After the bridge that goes over the A2, you will find the campus on the Left. Please enter via Gate B or C.

We have ample FREE parking available at the Dartford campus. However, we would suggest using public transport if you can, to help the environment and ease traffic congestion.
