Acting (Year 1)
The level 3 Acting year 1 Course is the first year of a two year Extended Diploma at The Miskin Theatre North Kent College. It will give you the opportunity to gain the qualifications, skills and experience to progress in the Performing Arts Industry or in any industry you wish to go on to study after the two years.
This course provides a professional training in a theatre, with state of the art facilities.
The Miskin is run by experienced industry professionals who will work with you to produce ground breaking, exciting theatre, and develop your skills and confidence to support you in the craft of acting.
The Miskin will support you in becoming a well-trained, clear-thinking performer ready to take your first steps into the industry. You will also develop the skills that all employers are looking for, including team work, self-confidence, communication skills, self-motivation and the ability to meet targets.
This Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and maths skills as required. You will be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results.
All assignments are modelled on professional practice, learners will also have the opportunity to participate in work experience including Front of House.
What qualification will I gain?
UAL L3 Diploma in Performing & Production Arts (Acting)
You will be required to attend an audition and interview where you will perform a monologue of your choice and will be asked to explain your commitment to acting and performing. You will also take part in a practical drama workshop on the day and you may also be asked to read a script.
Preferable qualifications - 5 GCSE grade C (4) and above, including English and maths.
Performing Arts Level 2 Equivalent at merit or above plus GCSE English and Maths at grade C (4) or above.
What progression options will I have?
Most learners will progress on to Acting Year 2 the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts (Acting)

Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £160
Other Costs (payable by all students): £75 Annual Theatre Pass

How will I be assessed?
Main assessment is through professionally relevant assignments. These are primarily practical units with supporting written work and documentation. Formal assessment will be required.
