Media - Digital Journalism (Year 2)

You can progress onto this course from the UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology.

This is a mainly practical course providing you with a range of the experiences such as learning from how a media news room works as a print and broadcast journalist, sending you out to report on news and events, developing your skills to become an author, getting you on air presenting your own radio show on www.miskinradio.co.uk, providing you with the understanding of how to mount an advertising campaign, provide opportunities to produce podcasts, nurturing your creative abilities and enabling you the chance to undertake work experience within a media environment.

If reporting, journalism, podcasting, publishing or presenting is where you would like to develop your career, then this course will provide you with an understanding of these media environments

What progression options will I have?

Higher Education, studying on BA Hons and Foundation Degree level programmes.
Progression onto our Foundation Degree in Digital Media Production or Interactive Multimedia.
There are also routes directly into junior positions within the industry and apprenticeships available.

Tuition Fees:

19+ Advanced Learning Loan - £3600
Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £200

Other Costs (payable by all students): £150 Annual Company Contribution

How will I be assessed?

All of your work will follow a vocational scenario or context that simulates a real-world situation, similar to year 1.
This course is 100 % coursework. You will present your work in a range of formats.
You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection.
