Construction - Gateway
Our new Gateway to .. courses are designed to give learners working at Entry Level, who don’t feel quite ready for a large, mainstream college course, a more supported experience of college life. Group sizes will be 8-10 with specialist staff and LSA support. They are designed as a stepping stone onto further vocational programmes and future employment.
Part of the week will be spent within the Construction department where you will work towards an Entry Level 3 Skills for Employment in the Construction Industries and will have the opportunity to apply for progression onto a foundation course in one of the three main trades (carpentry, painting & decorating or brickwork).
You will spend the rest of your week with staff from the Gateway department, improving your functional skills levels in English and Maths and developing health, wellbeing and social/employability skills. Units may include Fitness, independent living skills, developing hobbies and interests, planning and preparing for interviews.
