Working with children and families, you can experience the great sense of satisfaction, of inspiring a child to learn and to be a part of helping to shape the lives of young people. Our courses are taught by early years sector professionals and involve a large percentage of real-life work experience placements, to give you the hands-on professional training that you need for a fulfilling career within the sector.
We offer high quality training for the early education sector. Our training is designed to equip child care practitioners with the practical skills that are required to work in a variety of child care settings. Our courses involve guest speakers, visits, use of the outdoor learning environment and our very own forest school.
What will I learn?
You will develop an understanding of child development and education, the importance of play, learning and education within the Early Years sector, child development from conception to 16 years, caring for sick children, promoting and supporting children’s development, safeguarding and the role of the Early Years Practitioner.
What qualification will I gain?
You have the option to study Levels 1, 2 and 3 CACHE qualifications. After which, you can progress on to the Foundation Degree in Early Years at NKWC or a university. For explanations of our qualifications, please see our Qualification Explained page.
What progression options will I have?
You can go on to higher level qualifications, including our Foundation Degree in Early Years, or employment such as an Early Years Practitioner, Health Care Assistant, Teacher, Nurse or Social Worker.
What costs are involved?
There is a materials fee of £150, which will include an e-portfolio, e-books, Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and a polo shirt uniform for work placements. Full-time Further Education courses are free for students aged 16-18, you may have to pay some or all of your fees if you are aged 19 plus, but please see our Student Finance page for further information. If you are enrolling on a Higher Education course, fees are applicable.
