Miskin Spa, Beauty & Make-upAbout Studying Make Up or Beauty Therapy with us, allows you to develop your skills and experience in our fabulous purpose-built salons & studios. Our lecturers are highly qualified Beauty Therapists and Make Up Artists, with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, including salon ownership. We believe that your skills and knowledge will advance notably by learning in a practical environment, you will work with real clients, in the College’s Salons, which contain industry standard facilities. The Spa and Make Up Salons were purpose built in Autumn 2016 and are as up to date, if not more so, than many commercial salons & studios. Although our courses are based on practical experience, there is still a high level of theory work that will need to be completed, in order to meet the standards of the qualification. New Salons At Dartford Campus we've just opened a brand new Make Up Studio and a Spa with steam room and sauna which have been added to the existing salons, giving students the chance to learn in modern and true-to-industry environments Our Salons and Studios are open to the general public, on most week days and selected evenings offering a comprehensive range of treatments, which are provided by our students as part of their training. What will I learn? Courses require practical experience gained in either the Beauty Salon or make-up studio, all courses involve a high level of theory. What qualification will I gain? Beauty Therapy is offered at Levels 1, 2 & at level 3 completing an Advanced Technical Diploma; Hair & media Make-up artistry is offered at level 2 & at level 3 an advanced technical diploma in Make –up artistry is offered with Theatrical make-up also available 17/18 studying a level 3 advanced What progression options will I have? With Make Up or Beauty you can progress through the Levels, onto a Level 3 course. It is also possible to continue your qualification as an Apprentice, should you find employment (please see our Apprenticeships section for more information). You can find work in areas such as working in salons, spas, cruise ships, theatre or television. What costs are involved? This can vary depending on the course, but for uniform, textbooks, products and trips, you could be paying between £113 and £550. Full-time Further Education courses are free for students aged 16-18, you may have to pay some or all of your fees if you are aged 19 plus, but please see our Student Finance page for further information. Entry requirements? You must have a genuine interest in Make Up or Beauty Therapy for the Level 1 course. Level 2 requires two GCSE’s at C/4 grade in English and Maths.
