Want to work in the highly visual world of photography? Love looking at life through the lens? Then these are the courses for you. 

You will benefit from using state-of-the-art equipment including the latest DSLR cameras, film cameras and lenses. You will have access to professional standard digital imaging and editing software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Bridge and Light-Room. You will learn to scan, print and edit digital images using professional software. 

We have two well-equipped photographic studios where you will benefit from excellent technical support from our Photography team. You will also have access to our four Mac computer suites, plus you will gain experience in using the darkroom to develop your hand-printing skills. You will also get the opportunity to work with 35mm, medium format systems and black and white film developing. 

Next steps: The course will enhance your photographic skills. You could progress to higher education or pursue a career in photography, photo journalism, fashion photography and more.

What will I learn?

You will gain an understanding of cameras and their controls, composition and visual language, through learning to use digital cameras and the software to enhance your images.

What qualification will I gain?

You can gain a UAL Level 2 Diploma or a UAL Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma over 2 years. You can also go on to study the HNC/HND in Photography. For explanations of our qualifications, please see our Qualification Explained page.

What progression options will I have?

You can progress onto the HNC in Photography at the College, which can lead into the HND in Photography, which is also offered at the College. You are also able to go straight into the Photography industry.

What costs are involved?

You will need to pay £150 Company contribution fee per year, plus any materials, visits or exhibition contributions. This contribution goes towards the industry-based working studio environment that the photographers work in.
Full-time Further Education courses are free for students aged 16-18, you may have to pay some or all of your fees if you are aged 19 plus, but please see our Student Finance pagefor further information. If you are enrolling on a Higher Education course, fees are applicable.

Entry Requirements?

For the Level 3 Diploma, you will need a minimum of four GCSE 9-4 grades or equivalent, including Maths and English, plus evidence of a Portfolio and good school report and you will need to undergo an Interview. Formal academic requirements may be waived for mature applicants but Portfolio and Interview still apply.
