Supported Learning

Supported Learning courses are delivered with excellent resources, equipment and staff. The courses give you the opportunity to achieve accredited qualifications at an appropriate level for you, in a range of subjects to help build your future.

Course areas include Vocational Options, Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), GCSEs, Functional Skills and Supported Learning.

Each course provides a unique opportunity to experience learning in a suitable environment and offers qualifications from pre-Entry Level to Level 1, to help you to build your skill-set ready for employment or further study.
Our progression routes provide continuing learning and development, whether it’s on to a Level 1 or Level 2 mainstream vocational course, employment, supported employment or independent living.

What will I learn?

You will learn the knowledge and skills needed for you to undertake further study in your chosen area at the College, or to move into employment.

What qualification will I gain?

Depending on the area you choose, you will receive an award from an accredited awarding body, such as a BTEC Edexcel Diploma in Vocational Studies. For explanations of our qualifications, please see our Qualification Explained page.

What progression options will I have?

You can progress on to another Supported Learning course, or a Level 1 to 2 mainstream vocational course. You can also progess into employment, supported employment or independent living.

What costs are involved?

This depends on what course you take, but an example would be £3 per week for cookery ingredients. Full-time Further Education courses are free for students aged 16-18, you may have to pay some or all of your fees if you are aged 19 plus, but please see our Student Finance page for further information.

Entry requirements?
