The Miskin Spa is open for Business

Miskin Salon, Spa and Make up studios at North Kent College’s Dartford campus officially opened on Tuesday 1st November after a substantial refurbishment and investment.
The salon is a fully operational training facility where students offer high quality treatments to the local community at a much more competitive price than the high street, whilst gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
Emma Mackay, Portfolio Manager Hair and Beauty, City and Guilds, who officially opened the make up studios said “Coming from an awarding organisation it is a fantastic opportunity to see how centres like North Kent College are progressing and it is so great to work with these employers, it is all about employability and these type of facilities are fundamental. It is an honour to open the studios today”.
Leena Dattani , Sales & Education Manager, Aveda Southeast, officially opened the spa and said “ I am so impressed with the vision at the college for the students, it is so exciting to see how far the college has come since being a student 17 years ago, and I look forward to helping the students into employment with many opportunities within the industry”.
During the course of the event students offered various treatments such as mini manicures and back and neck massages whilst others were showcasing their skills by demonstrating how to apply body art. Catering students from the Gravesend campus provided the afternoon tea for all guests.
Dan Hoey, Freelance make-up artist, currently working with celebrity Dawn French, commented “I am very impressed with their skills. It is excellent to see the students using professional branded products such as MAC and Sleek Make-up at this stage of their training”.
Stacie Collings, Curriculum Manager Beauty, said “ We are so pleased with the launch today, We have a fantastic range of courses in beauty therapy and make-up artistry and are excited to see our course offers expand further to include theatrical make-up next year. The beauty therapy department has a full team of teaching staff that are current within the industry and recognise the needs and wants of our learners in this ever growing field”.
