CILEx students gain employment at top London law firms

North Kent College’s Legal Secretarial Department are pleased to announce a number of employment offers for their Level 3 students.

10 students studying on the CILEx Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries, have been successful in gaining a full time position within various legal firms located in London. Representatives from Ashurst LLP and Linklaters LLP visited the College, whilst students attended an assessment day for Bird & Bird LLP at their offices.

Deon Donald, Secretarial Services Manager at Linklaters, said; “The quality of students at North Kent College is consistently high. We have found having the connection with the college to be extremely beneficial to us as an employer looking to attract and retain the best talent.” Sylvia Heath, Senior Manager of Secretarial Services at Ashurst, added; “We have been very impressed with the calibre of students who applied and now look forward to providing broad ranging development and opportunity for these individuals within all our practice areas.”

The lucky students are Lucy McGowan, Elliejane Nicholls, Georgia Cook and Ellie Riley for Bird & Bird LLP, Tiffany Hawkins, Taylor Rogers, Shayleigh Harris and Lizzie Holland for Ashurst LLP and Faye Cundle and Michaela Byrne for Linklaters LLP.

Elliejane Nicholls, who is due to start at Bird & Bird, said “I have learnt so many useful things on the Level 3 Legal Secretary course which will help me develop and progress in my legal career. I am very pleased that I have achieved a role at Bird & Bird, thanks to North Kent College; I feel like it will be an amazing start to my career!”.

Shayleigh Harris, who gave up full-time employment to study on the course was happy to say, “Studying on the CILEx Level 3 Diploma for Legal Secretaries programme has been the best choice I have made. After leaving full-time employment to complete the course I was anxious but the tutors have supported me and the course has given me many opportunities. I have enjoyed the course and am excited to start my career at Ashurst.”
