Engineering Assessor at North Kent College awarded Kent Teacher of the Year 2018!

10th April 2018

Dave Skinner, Engineering Assessor at NKC has been informed that he has won an award for the prestigious Kent Teacher of the Year Awards 2018.

The Kent Teacher of the Year Awards were started to mark the vital contribution that teaching staff make to our community. The awards recognise the expertise and dedication that is the hallmark of an outstanding teacher.

Nominations were sent through the Kent Messenger Kent Charity Team website in order to get as many people involved and reward teachers for all their efforts and dedication.

Kent Charity Team brought together seven colleges to support the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards and encouraged students and colleagues to nominate lecturers and teachers before the deadline, Wednesday 7th March. Catriona Jamieson, Area Director at Medway Youth Trust, commented, “We work really closely with schools across Kent and Medway, and we see first-hand the amount of pure passion, dedication, and hard work they put in to secure the best education for young people.”

Mr Skinner received a letter telling him about the fantastic news and subsequently was invited to the formal celebration evening where he will accept his award.

Kent Teacher of the Year Awards are inclusive and anyone can be nominated who works in a school or Further Education college in Kent, Bromley or Bexley. The award includes teachers, volunteers, governors and non-teaching staff like secretaries and lunchtime supervisors.

The awards ceremony will be taking place on Friday 18th May, at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel. The evening will consist of a presentation, a sit-down meal and the opportunity for the winners to receive their well-deserved awards. Proceeds raised from the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards go to literacy and road safety projects in the region.
