Students become published authors as they share their life chapters.

The Class members of the Foundation Degree in Professional Writing have recently become authors, after publishing North Kent College’s first anthology.

Known as, ‘The Professional Writers’, Deborah Bentum, Alice Wren, Josh Wood, Jake Englezou, Jeffrey Nti, Robin Egret and Zahra Din finished up their two-year Foundation Degree by producing an anthology as the final project for their Popular Memory module.

The students were tasked with working as a group to produce a piece of work of their choice, and collectively came up with the idea of each person writing the first chapter of their biography. Titled ‘A Chapter in Our Life', they had to work together to edit the text, produce artwork for the cover and publish the book on Amazon.  “It’s really a ‘coming together’ of all of the different styles and ideas in the group.  Robin’s chapter consists of three short poems, Jeffrey’s chapter recalls his run-ins with the law and Deborah’s chapter recalls her family’s ‘American Adventure’.  It shows the writing talents of all of us in a unique way and is something I think we are all very proud of”, said Jake Englezou.

The students are completing a Foundation Degree in Professional Writing at the North Kent College (Dartford Campus), which is accredited by the University of Greenwich.  All of the students plan to top up their Foundation Degree qualification to a full BA(Hons) with one further year of study at other universities.

We at North Kent College are very proud of our published authors and wish them every success in the future as they continue in Higher Education.  To view our HE courses, click here.
