student shaking hands with employe

North Kent College is proud to highlight the success of Tilly Anderson, a second year T Level Accounting student at Dartford, who has progressed into ongoing employment with London-based Accountancy Firm SRLV following her placement.

Tilly began her T Level course by independently researching potential industry placements and shared this opportunity with the T Level Accounting team. By securing an early placement, she successfully completed her industry hours ahead of her final examinations, giving her time to now focus on essential revision. During her placement, she demonstrated immense growth in both her knowledge and employability skills, which led to an invitation to continue with SRLV while finishing her course.

During her placement, Tilly worked one day a week within SRLV’s Corporate department, supporting clients including restaurants and designer brands. Her responsibilities focused mainly on bookkeeping, later developing into tasks such as client payments and VAT returns, helping to strengthen both her technical knowledge and confidence.

Reflecting on Tilly’s contribution, Azhar Kazi, her mentor at SRLV, said:

“Tilly integrated well into the team and approached her placement with maturity and enthusiasm. She demonstrated a strong willingness to learn, took ownership of her tasks, and always maintained a positive and professional attitude.”

Azhar also praised the support provided by North Kent College throughout the placement process:

“The college was extremely supportive throughout the entire placement. We had regular check-ins where progress was reviewed, appropriate targets were set, and the placement remained meaningful for the student and manageable for us as an employer. Their communication and flexibility made the process very smooth.”

While the one-day-a-week structure presented some challenges in maintaining momentum on longer tasks, SRLV highlighted the many benefits of hosting a T Level placement, including bringing a fresh perspective to the team and supporting the development of future talent. This was SRLV’s first T Level placement, and based on the positive experience, the firm confirmed it would consider hosting further T Level students in the future.

Impressed by Tilly’s attitude, commitment, and potential, SRLV offered her continued employment while she completes her course, allowing continuity in her development and helping her deepen her practical experience alongside her studies.

Reflecting on her experience, Tilly said:

“I learnt a lot of skills that helped improve my work and exams at college. I also grew a lot as a person; I became more confident and independent. I really enjoyed being put outside of my comfort zone and meeting new people.”

Tilly encourages other students to consider a T Level pathway:

“I would encourage them to do a T level course, as I feel the work placement part has helped me massively.”
