Our industry professional theatres and workshops provide the perfect environment to train in your chosen specialism. Our team of professionals will offer you a training which is unrivalled in the country.
Through working as part of a technical crew on a diverse range of productions you will learn skills such as prop design and making, costume construction, set design and building, lighting design for concerts and shows and leading a crew as a stage manager. At the Miskin theatre you will be provided with the very best learning experience possible where we recognise your creativity and your ambitions to prepare you for the next step in your training.

What qualification will I gain?

• Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts
• UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Technical and Production Practice for the Creative Industries

What progression options will I have?
Many of our technicians move on to some of the top drama schools throughout the country, including Rose Bruford, Central School of Speech and Drama, L.I.P.A, Mountview, Glamorgan and A.L.R.A. to name a few. However, you will also be equipped with skills to take you directly into the industry.
You also have the option to progress in to Higher Education at the college with an additional year here followed by two years at university. The course we offer is:
Level 4 Professional Diploma Technical Theatre
Some Technicians choose to stay with us at NKC and complete their Level 4 Professional Diploma in Technical and Production Practice for the Creative Industries
What costs are involved?
Annual Company Contribution- £75 (including Annual Ticket Pass to all internal productions) payable on Enrolment Day.
Additional costs: PPE/equipment approximately £100

4 GCSEs at grade 2 (E in old grading system) or above which must include English and/or Maths.
Level 3 Diploma
5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C in old grading system) or above which must include English and/or Maths or a Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts at merit grade with ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
Level 3 Extended Diploma
UAL Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
Evidence of commitment to the subject, which will be assessed at your interview. For the Level 3 Extended Diploma, five GCSE’s at 9-4 are required (including English and Maths).
Applicants must be 18 years or older and have achieved a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts merit grade,or A-Levels (C and above, including Drama/Performing Arts). Ideally GCSE English and Maths at minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
