British Food Fortnight is back and bigger than ever, running from today (26 September) to 12 October 2025.

Now in its 24th year, the event celebrates the best of British produce, from autumn vegetables to locally reared meat and freshly caught fish. With food festivals, school menus, hospital dinners, restaurant specials and even a Great British Pie Challenge, this is the UK’s largest celebration of our home-grown food.

This nationwide initiative is a reminder of just how rich and varied British food culture really is. Supermarkets, care homes, universities and even the Houses of Parliament are getting involved.

Across the country, chefs, caterers and community champions will be serving up delicious dishes that spotlight the quality, heritage and sustainability of British ingredients. It’s a time to not only enjoy eating local, but also to inspire the next generation of food professionals.

At North Kent College, we’re passionate about giving students the skills and experience to become part of this vibrant and rewarding industry.

Our Hospitality and Catering courses are taught at both our Gravesend and Tonbridge campuses and offer a truly hands-on learning experience. You’ll cook in professional kitchens, serve in fully operational restaurants open to the public, and gain real insight into the sector through exciting industry placements.

Whether you dream of becoming a chef, food and beverage supervisor or hospitality manager, our expert tutors, all with extensive industry backgrounds, will help you build the knowledge, techniques and confidence needed to succeed.

British Food Fortnight is all about celebrating the people, places and passion behind the food we eat. If you’d like to be part of that story, visit the Hospitality and Catering subject page on our website to find out how you can start your journey in this exciting industry.

Alternatively if you want to celebrate British Food Fortnight with a delicious meal, you can visit our open to the public restaurants. The View Restaurant at our Tonbridge campus and The Gallery Restaurant at our Gravesend campus are staffed by all levels of our catering teams.
