GCSE results day is edging closer, and we are here to help! Here is some guidance on what to do once you have received your results
On results day, whatever grades you achieve, you should begin by talking to your teachers and career advisors who are there to offer support and advise you on what to do next.
If you have achieved better grades than expected – congratulations! You should then talk to your college or sixth form to confirm your place. It is important to remember that if you have second thoughts about your subject or course choice, it is not too late to potentially swap to a course that better suits you. Make sure you speak to your college or sixth form who will advise you on your options.
If you did not receive the grades you had hoped for, do not panic, you should talk to your sixth form or college as they might still offer you a place on your chosen course or even an alternative course that they believe is better suited to you! Alternatively, you can always re-sit your exams to improve your grade in order to progress onto your desired next step. If you did not achieve at least a grade 4 or 5 in your Maths or English GCSEs you will continue to learn these subjects alongside your chosen course and re-sit them at a later date.
Furthermore, if you are unhappy with your grade, you have the right to appeal. If this is the case for you, you should speak to your subject teachers as soon as possible who can help you in the next steps of the appeals process.
