STCW Elementary First Aid

Candidates successfully passing the assessment will receive a certificate issued by the MCA/STCW approved Centre.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Both the theoretical and the practical aspects of the course are equally important.  The aim is to give all persons intending to go to sea a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or medical emergency aboard ship.

Practical exercises are backed up by theoretical input, and it is important that candidates participate actively if they are to generate the confidence that the course is designed to impart.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

There are no specific entry standards, other than those required for entry to the industry.

Hand outs will be provided but students may take notes if desired.  As the course goes into medical terminology, and has important theoretical input, a good understanding of English is essential.

The practical aspects of this course can be physically demanding and students should be free of any condition that would affect their capacity to participate.  Candidates will also need to bring with them proof of identity (i.e. Passport/national Identification).
