VTCT Skills iTec Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing and Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to provide the essential practical skills and knowledge for a career in hairdressing and barbering. This qualification covers core skills like cutting, shampooing, styling, and finishing hair for both men and women, and includes units on health and safety in a salon environment.

Entry Requirements
A genuine interest in the hairdressing industry. A satisfactory school report to include evidence of attendance above 85% and good behaviour and attitude. Completion of GCSEs and an achievement of 3 GCSEs grade 3 or above. Must include English and Maths or equivalent functional skills qualification in English & Maths. Your enrolment is also subject to a successful interview, written task and completion of a practical skills assessment during taster days.

What progression options will I have?
Achieving the Level 2 Hairdressing and Barbering qualification opens the door to a wide range of exciting career paths and further study options. With industry-ready experience, students may choose to:
Progress to further development of skills and knowledge
Enrol onto Level 3 Hairdressing to learn advanced hair techniques
Launch a career as a qualified junior stylist, working in salons or freelance. Expand into related industries, such as Beauty Therapy or Make-Up Artistry, by enrolling in complementary programmes.
This qualification provides a strong foundation for both employment and further education, supporting a lifelong career in the dynamic and creative world of hairdressing.

What costs are involved?
Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ - ?1650 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): ?145 ?40 Trip Fee (payable by all ages) This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay. How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous throughout the course. You will be assessed using a variety of methods including observation, oral questioning, written questioning, online exams and assignment work.
