The aim of the NKC Football Academy scheme is to attract students between the ages of 16 and 18 who are football enthusiasts and want to improve both their academic qualifications and their progression in football. It provides an opportunity to gain a recognised educational qualification, to receive top class football coaching from UEFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ Licence Coaches and to play a high standard of competitive football.
The academy has an established boy’s and girl's set up and from September 2016 has been running in partnership with professional coaches from Advanced Player Development (APD) who bring a vast range of experience and knowledge to the academy to help support young players in both a playing capacity and with employability skills.
The academy plays around 10 marquee matches per season against professional club academies across the country and in Europe, league matches every Wednesday and pre-season friendlies against local professional and non-league clubs. Guest coaches from professional clubs and specialist goalkeeping coaches attend the programme regularly and the APD Head Coaches hold the prestigious UEFA A and B licences.
The educational scheme allows football enthusiasts to improve both their academic qualifications and level of football proficiency with the aim of establishing a career either with a professional or non-league club or within the industry as coaches or training staff. Graduates of the programme have gone on to play football, coach at high levels and progressed onto scholarships at US Universities.
Applicants must attend trial dates in spring and early summer 2018 to access the programme and the squad, and the season starts earlier than the other College courses in early August.
“The NKC Football Academy gives young people the opportunity to train full-time, gain excellent coaching from Harry Watling and James Mullane of APD and continue their studies. Finishing the programme offers many options for progression routes and I’ll looking forward to helping support and develop players from across Kent and SE London”
Anthony Limbrick, West Ham Utd Academy Coach and Guest Coach at NKC.
