The UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Creative Music Performance and Production offers an exciting opportunity for musicians, singers, producers, or composers to develop their skills in a vibrant industry modelled environment in preparation for Higher Education or employment.

The qualification is designed to provide musicians or producers with the platform to build on or refine their practical skills, developing their personal subject specialisms towards the standards expected of professional practitioners.

Trainees will develop the independent, resourceful, and ‘can do’ approach required of modern creative professionals, meeting the demanding standards of the sector.  

Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results.

All assignments are modelled on professional practice.

Students will be required to Pass all three units to gain the qualification:

  • Unit 1: Applied Professional Practice

  • Unit 2: Specialist Performance Technique

  • Unit 3: Specialist Performance Project

Units 1 and 2 are graded Pass only. The overall qualification is graded based on Unit 3 and is graded as Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction.

  • What qualification will I gain?

    UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma In Performance

  • Entry Requirements

    You will audition and interview for a place on this Level 4 course. You will be asked to produce something for the audition/interview to be assessed, and staff will let you know if you have been successful.

    You must be 18 years or older and have achieved a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts at Merit grade or, A-Levels (C and above, preferably including Performing Arts). GCSE English at a minimum Grade 4 or above and ideally Maths at minimum Grade 4 or above. You will also be asked to create a supporting statement of at least 500 words prior to your interview.

  • What progression options will I have?

    Higher Education / university. Career progression into the creative industries.

  • What costs are involved?

    Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ Advanced Learning Loan -£4650 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over):£205 This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay.   • How will I be assessed?

    Project Proposals, portfolios and projects.

    Assessment will be against the specified UAL marking criteria.

    Student work will be internally assessed, internally and externally moderated through a students’ portfolio of evidence against the learning outcomes. Final assessment unit is graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction and will determine the overall grade for the Professional Diploma.
