Applied Arts (Year 1)

The course meets the needs of aspiring artists and designers wishing to acquire hand-making skills specific to a career pathway as textiles, illustration, Jewellery design, surface decoration, printmaking, book making, ceramics and 3D design craft. You will also be introduced to elements of Fine Art such as Oil or Acrylic painting, sculpture and conceptual awareness. Underpinning the course is drawing, use of colour, exploration of materials, techniques and processes, and a wide cultural and contextual awareness. Visual recording using specialist and found materials is an essential element and members are expected to take full advantage of their freedom in order to bring something original to their portfolio.

UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (Applied Arts)

Entry requirements?

4 GCSE's A*-C incl English and Maths (Grade 9-4)
Interview, Portfolio and Drawing task

Formal academic requirements may be waived for mature applicants but Portfolio and Interview still apply.

What progression options will I have?

Our students progress onto some of the leading universities such as UAL, Goldsmiths, Bournemouth, Brighton and Glasgow

Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £170

Other Costs (payable by all students): £150 Annual Company Contribution
