About Early Years

From an Early Year's practioner through to a Primary School Teacher the begininng of your career will start here with us. You can then choose to venture into employment or to continue into Higher Education and to build on the solid foundation that you have gained with us.

Here at North Kent College you will learn how a child develops holistically and be able to utilise your own skills to provide the best care and education for the individual needs of the child.

Our courses are taught by Early Years sector profressionals that understand the importance and impact of Early Years education and care on the lifelong outcomes for our children. Combinbed with the real-life work experience placements to give you the hands-on profressional training, you will have both the knowledge and skills to have a positive impact on children's lives. 

Forest School at North Kent College

Forest school originated in Scandinavia in the 1950s, founded in its open-air culture way of life, ‘friluftsliv’, which translates into free air life. Forest school is an approach to learning that takes children into the great outdoors whatever the weather to explore the natural environment. Forest school is a long-term, nature-based outdoor learning program that focuses on holistic development and growth in children.

Here at North Kent College Early Years, we incorporate Forest School sessions into each of our courses. These sessions are led by our Forest School Leader who demonstrates the key principals of Forest School. This enables our learners to understand the importance of a nature-based curriculum for children.

Industry Placements
