Bricklaying

At college it is a mixture of practical and theory, the time spent in the workshop is designed to developing the handskills needed to build cavity walls, solid walls, blockwork, attached piers with a raking cut, brick cladding and the ability to set out and transfer levels around a structure. In the class the learners will know how to work safely in construction, relay information, calculate quantites, communicate with others and knowledge of construction technology. The learners will also undertake separate coursesFunctional Maths at a level above last years goal.

The learners will be taught by highly qualified tutors with years of trade experience in well equipped workshops. The programme runs for 3 days
a week, the other 2 working hopefully in Construction.

What qualification will I gain?

CITB Construction Skills Diploma in Bricklaying (Construction)

Entry requirements?

Minimum GCSE grade 3 in Maths and English supported by two at grade 2, one preferably in science, employment in construction training as a bricklayer

What progression options will I have?

Employment within the construction industry as a bricklayer.

How will I be assessed?

Portfolio, end of unit tests, online exam covering all topics and 7 practical synoptic assessment tests over 2 years for the college aspect, NVQ gained via work based evidence to demonstrate competence
