Teaching at NKC has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for the industry, while inspiring students to follow their own journeys to achieving their dream career paths.
I began my career in the Travel/ Aviation industry as Cabin Crew for both easyJet and British Airways, where I spent nearly eight years advancing my skills and passion for customer service. During my time with British Airways, I progressed into the role of Customer Service Manager, which involved leading the Cabin Crew team onboard and using my experience and professionalism to deal with situations. In 2021, I decided to share my passion for the travel industry where I joined NKC as a Travel and Tourism Lecturer. Reflecting on my younger self and how I dreamed of becoming Cabin Crew, it felt important to help other aspiring young people turn their ambitions into reality.
In 2023, I began my NCFE Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training alongside my teaching role, which has been invaluable in shaping me into the teacher I am today. The qualification allowed me to apply educational theory in the classroom, broaden my understanding of teaching practice, and connect it to my industry knowledge and experience.
The Teaching and Learning Department at NKC have been incredibly supportive throughout my teaching journey, providing valuable feedback and professional development opportunities, including internal courses such as TEEP.
The best thing about transitioning from industry to education is the chance to prepare and inspire students to achieve their qualifications, grow in confidence, and pursue ambitious futures, ultimately helping them secure their dream roles within the travel and tourism industry.
