  • Your Application

    Candidate applications are to be completed and submitted online, via our recruitment portal. Please note that we’re unable to accept CVs in place of our standard application form, which captures all required information including:

    • Your personal details
    • Your right to work status
    • Your qualifications
    • Your career history
    • Your reference details
    • Your supporting statement
    • Your suitability declaration

    When writing your personal statement, please refer to the role's job description (with person specification), highlighting your relavent skills, knowledge and experience

    If the quality of existing applications allows, we reserve the right to close a job advert before the date otherwise specified, so please don’t delay in submitting yours for consideration.

  • Your Interview

    If your application is shortlisted, you’ll be contacted by the People team and invited to attend an in-person interview at one of our campuses (typically, the home campus for the role). You’ll also be notified of any specific interview requirements, such as the preparation of a micro teach.

    The interview panel will usually consist of two College management members, including the line manager for the role, and you’ll be given the opportunity to show why you’re the best candidate for the role.

    After attending your interview, you’ll be made aware of the outcome as soon as possible, with feedback from the interview panel.

  • Your Offer

    If you’re successful at interview, a conditional offer of employment will be made to you, pending the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks including:

    • Verification of identity (including right to work in the UK)
    • Online search of name
    • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (including Children’s Barred List)
    • Employment references
    • Health clearance
    • Verification of required qualifications
    • Teacher’s record check (for roles with associated teaching hours)


    The People team will coordinate these checks with you, and, as part of this, you’ll be required to attend site to provide the required original documentation.

  • Your Onboarding

    Once all pre-employment checks are completed and deemed satisfactory, an employment start date will be confirmed with you, and your contract of employment issued.

    You can then look forward to a structured onboarding process, inducting you into all aspects of College life!

  • Safeguarding

    North Kent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and all staff have a responsibility to share and maintain this commitment. In line with the requirements of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, appropriate safeguarding checks (including an enhanced DBS check) will be undertaken on all individuals selected for appointment. Posts at the College, a specified establishment where the work gives opportunity for contact with children, are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to complete and submit prior to their interview a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.   • Confidentiality

    North Kent College will use the information given on your application for recruitment and selection, personnel management and for employment purposes in respect of successful candidates. The information you give us will be kept confidential and your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties without your prior consent, except where necessary, to confirm information provided by you; and in compiling anonymous statistical data required to be submitted by Government Agencies. Access to sensitive personal data is strictly controlled and confined to the People team, in line with staff responsibilities in these areas.
