During his industry placement, Edgars was given exposure across multiple disciplines in Quantity Surveying and Site Management, working effectively within a range of teams and the wider BAM project team.

The knowledge and practical skills Edgars enhanced included using Excel proficiently and the ability to quickly learn new systems, producing bills of quantities and carrying out take-offs. He gained confidence in communicating with sub-contractors and was pro-active in seeking feedback on his work.
Ella Standen, Site Manager, has been mentoring Edgars commented on his overall performance, saying: "Edgars has demonstrated a positive attitude and showed a willingness to push himself during each rotation to broaden his understanding of the role. Quantity Surveying was clearly his preferred discipline; however he approached Site Management tasks with a similar level of commitment."
Edgars spoke about his experience with his placement coordinator: "I have a clear understanding of the role I want to do by seeing the work in a practical setting" he said. "I am applying for degree apprenticeships in Quantity Surveying which is my preference and also Site Management."
