LEVEL 3 BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR APPRENTICESHIP
Hayden is studying for a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship, here he tells us about studying at the College, and how it has helped him fulfil a childhood dream!
What made you choose to study at NKC?
The College offers such a vast range of Apprenticeship options, meaning there is something for everyone. Since I was a child, I have wanted to work in an international law firm, but it can feel inaccessible when you don’t know anybody in the industry. North Kent College (NKC) made it possible for me to achieve my ambition of working in a law firm through my Apprenticeship.
What would you say are the three best things about studying at NKC?
1: The personal attention that you receive from staff (from my Apprenticeship experience).
2: The way in which you are treated like an adult and employee, as opposed to just a student.
3: The sheer number of opportunities and courses available.
How has NKC helped your career?
As NKC works closely with a range of international law firms, it has helped propel me into a role that can lead on to many other great opportunities once my Apprenticeship is finished.
Where do you now work and what's next for you?
I work as an Apprentice Junior Legal PA in the Assets team at Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) in London, where I am completing a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of my Apprenticeship (which will hopefully be within the next few weeks!) I hope I will secure employment at the firm as a Junior PA or move into the Business Development team and continue my career there.
What has been your route getting to your current position?
I chose to look into several law firms hiring for a range of positions, which is where I came across the Legal PA Apprenticeship with WFW. The firm already had Apprentices on the programme studying at NKC and that is how I came to study at the College.
Would you recommend studying at the College and why?
I certainly would, there are so many Apprenticeships and courses to choose from. I have felt fully supported and well taught throughout my studies: I have just achieved Distinctions in two of my three End Point Assessments, with one more to take.
What would be the piece of advice you would give to someone thinking of coming to college or specifically coming to North Kent College?
Remember to be proactive, mature and responsible. When joining the College, you are choosing to initiate a career as a young adult, so it’s important to show Tutors (and workplaces) that you are willing to act professionally at all times, while learning along the way
