Thank you for applying to join our Acting for Stage and Screen course at Miskin Tonbridge, North Kent College. We are really looking forward to meeting you on your audition day. Please arrive in the College Reception for 10am, where you will be collected by one of the Directing team and taken to one of our rehearsal spaces to begin the day. Your audition day will consist of a brief tour around the Theatre, an introduction to the course, followed by a workshop with yourself and the other applicants on the day. Following a lunch break, you will be called in for your audition. This will not be in front of the other applicants. Due to this, it is possible you could finish anywhere between 13:00 and 15:00. We will let you know when your audition is prior to lunch, so that you can make arrangements to be collected at the end of the day. Please note parents/guardians will not be able to stay on site after registration.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE DAY?
You will:
- Have a welcome chat with one of the Theatre Directors.
- Be shown around the Theatre and see our rehearsal rooms.
- Watch current rehearsals and/or participate in workshops led by one of the Directors.
- Take part in an interview and share the work you have prepared.
WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE?
For your audition/interview, you will be required to prepare the following materials, which should demonstrate your key strengths:
- You must learn and perform a contemporary monologue from a published play (post-2000) or a monologue from a Film or TV episode. Please bring a copy of your chosen performance material with you. It is important that you have a clear understanding of the piece you select and are able to discuss it during the interview.
- You are also required to submit a word-processed review of a Theatre production, Film, or TV series. This review must be a minimum of 250 words.

On the day, you will take part in a practical workshop and complete an ident to camera, stating your name and age directly into the lens. You will also attend an interview in which you will discuss your interest in joining the course.
The outcome of your audition/interview will be assessed by the Tutors. You will be informed of the result via phone call within one week.
PLEASE AVOID:
- Monologues from Dennis Kelly’s DNA, An Inspector Calls or Blood Brothers.
- Monologues downloaded from the internet.
- Classical Monologues (William Shakespeare)
DON’T PANIC ABOUT THE AUDITION
Auditioning and interviewing is usual practice within the Performing Arts industry, and something that you will become very familiar with as you continue on the Acting for Stage and Screen course.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
- Wear comfy, non-revealing, loose clothing.
- Bring bottled water, no other drinks are allowed in the Theatre.
- Be ready to talk about your passion for Acting for Stage and Screen and your reasons for wanting to come to Miskin Tonbridge.
- Bring a packed lunch or money for food if you want to have lunch in our canteen.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER YOUR AUDITION?
You will be called to confirm one of the following:
- Level 3 Acting for Stage and Screen - Conditional offer
- Level 2 Acting for Stage and Screen - Conditional offer
- Recall
- No offer

If you have any learning difficulties or require learning support, it is really important that you let us know on your audition day so that the right measures can be taken to support you. If you have an EHCP please bring this along on the day.
