Thank you for applying to join our Dance and Musical Theatre Course at the Miskin Theatre North Kent College. We’re really looking forward to meeting you. Please arrive in the College Reception for 9:30am. You will be finished by 4:30pm, or before, depending on the time of your audition.
Please note parents/guardians/friends will not be able to stay on site after registration.

DON’T PANIC ABOUT THE AUDITION
Auditioning is usual practice within the Performing Arts industry, and something that you will become very familiar with as you continue your dance and musical theatre training. We understand that for some of you it will be the first time that you have ever auditioned, so remember we are not looking for the perfect performer - we are looking for potential and enthusiasm!
WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE?
DANCE
- Please prepare a solo dance piece, in your chosen style.
- The piece should be 1-2 minutes in length and can be performed to a piece of music of your choice. You will have access to a sound system with Bluetooth facilities.
- You will also have the opportunity to sing a song of your choice - This part of your audition is NOT compulsory and will have no bearing on our decision towards acceptance on the dance course.
MUSICAL THEATRE
- Please prepare a solo song to sing to the audition panel, it should be approximately 1-2 minutes in length.
- Choose a song that best suits your voice and that you feel most comfortable with. Please bring a backing track as there will be no pianist on the day.
- Please prepare a solo dance piece, in your chosen style.
- The piece should be 1-2 minutes in length and can be performed to a piece of music of your choice.
- You will have access to a sound system with Bluetooth facilities.
- If you would like to perform a monologue to the panel, then please keep this to approximately 1-2 minutes.
PLEASE AVOID:
- You should bring your soundtrack downloaded on your phone. Please note that music or backing tracks used on the day should not be played off the internet, as calls or notifications could disturb the audition.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
- Ballet shoes, tights and leotard for the classical class if you currently study this; if not, please bring tightly fitted clothing
- You will need to bring a change of clothing for the rest of the day’s classes, there is no restriction, but these should be suitable to dance in. In addition, please bring jazz shoes. (No T-shirts, baggy trousers or outdoor footwear are to be worn during the morning classes)
- Hand Towel
- Packed Lunch (There is a canteen available on site providing hot and cold food)
- Bring bottled water, no other drinks are allowed in the Studios
- Be ready to talk about your passion for the performing arts and your reasons for wanting to come to the Miskin
- Recent school report
- Passport size photo with your name printed on the back (you will hand this in on arrival)
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER YOUR AUDITION?
You will be called confirming one of the following:
- Level 3 Dance - conditional offer
- Level 3 Musical Theatre - conditional offer
- Level 2 Dance - conditional offer
- Recall
- No Offer
AND FINALLY...
If you have any learning difficulties or require learning support, it is important that you let us know on your audition day so that the right measures can be taken to support you.
