Hello! Hope you are well. We're ready to consider your application! Please read the below regarding your pre-interview written task and some information regarding your audition if you are applying for:
- Level 2 & Level 3 Music Technology
- Level 2 & Level 3 Music Performance or Miskin Voice
- Level 4 Music or Music Technology
SCHOOL REPORT
You must provide a copy of a recent school report. We cannot offer you a place until this is provided. This will be a supporting statement to your application.
YOUR WRITTEN TASK
Prior to your interview / audition please prepare a short-written piece of a minimum of 500 words. Bring a printed copy with you on the day.
If you are applying for Level 2 & Level 3 Music Technology, please include:
- A summary of your skills and strengths as a producer. Please also include some details of how you contributed to any recording you have provided and how it was produced.
- Describe any musical experiences you have had including performances, compositions, recording sessions or other relevant information.
- Explain what qualities a professional producer or sound engineer requires and how you have demonstrated these qualities in your own work.
- Describe an important musical event in your life. This could be the first concert you attended, a song that means something to you, a musical experience you enjoyed as a child or something completely different!
If you are applying for Level 2 & Level 3 Music Performance or Miskin Voice, please include:
- A summary of your background, skills, and strengths as a musician / singer.
- Describe any musical experiences you have had including performances, compositions, recording sessions, or other relevant information.
- Explain what qualities a professional musician requires and how you have demonstrated these qualities in your own work.
- Describe an important musical event in your life. This could be the first concert you attended, a song that means something to you, a musical experience you enjoyed as a child or something completely different!
If you are applying for Level 4 Music or Music Technology, please include:
- A summary of your background, skills, and strengths as a musician / producer.
- Describe any musical experiences you have had including performances, compositions, recording sessions, or other relevant information.
- Explain what qualities a professional musician requires and how you have demonstrated these qualities in your own work.
- Describe an important musical event in your life. This could be the first concert you attended, a song that means something to you, a musical experience you enjoyed as a child or something completely different!
The written task will be considered as part of our assessment of your suitability for the course.
PREPARING FOR YOUR RECORIDNG: Level 2 & Level 3 Music Technology
- You can submit any recording you have contributed to in the past 6 months, but where possible it should between 3 - 5 minutes in length.
- The song or material can be of your choice, but we encourage you to show as much artistic and technical capability as possible.
- Music technology requires either some music tech or musical background. If you cannot provide recordings, you will be expected to demonstrate the ability on an instrument (guitar, piano etc) to a reasonable standard.

PREPARING FOR YOUR AUDITION: Level 2 & Level 3 Music Performance or Miskin Voice & Level 4 Music or Music Technology
- You should prepare an audition of between 3 - 5 minutes in length. If you're applying for Level 4 Music or Music Technology, you can bring along a portfolio of recording you have made (if you are applying as a producer).
- The songs or material can be of your choice, but we encourage you to perform 2 different songs to show different styles, if possible. If you're applying for Level 4 Music or Music Technology, you can submit these instead of performing.
- Singers - we will not be able to consider acapella or unaccompanied performances. You must perform to some kind of backing track or instrumentation so we can assess your tuning. Please bring backing music on your phone.
- Guitarists - you will be required to demonstrate competent rhythm and the ability to transition between open and barre chords. Guitarists should bring their guitar with them.
- Keyboard players or drummers - do not need to bring their instruments.
