Your initial practical skill training is carried out on peers within your group, performing and receiving beauty services before participating in a commercial salon on paying clients to create a realistic working environment. You will be expected to behave in a highly professional manner at all times, within our teaching and learning environments developing employability skills. Uniform and equipment will need to be purchased (refer to course costs) You will wear a NKC branded salon uniform at all times and are required to bring all equipment with you for each salon session.
Full participation and engagement in lessons developing Maths and English, employability skills, personal development in behaviour attitude and skills are compulsory and are monitored weekly and progress reviews are written and shared during the academic year During your programme of study, you will have the opportunity to attend various different events such as Professional Beauty and opportunities for additional training with professional brands and also have the opportunity to attend additional workshops and short courses at an additional cost.

Entry Requirements
A genuine interest in the Beauty Therapy Industry. A satisfactory school report to include evidence of attendance above 85% and good behaviour and attitude. Completion of GCSE?s and an achievement of a minimum Grade 3 in both English & Maths. Your enrolment is also subject to a successful interview, written task, photographic evidence and completion of a practical and theory skills assessment during taster days.?
?Homeschooled applicants are required to provide evidence of engagement with the Functional Skills Level 1 or GCSE curriculum in both Mathematics and English, together with a reference from a tutor. In addition, applicants must present proof of registration for the forthcoming summer series examinations.?

What progression options will I have?
Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification, students can progress to:
Level 3 Beauty Therapy, where they will refine and advance their practical skills, gain deeper theoretical knowledge, and prepare for higher-level employment or self-employment.
Level 2 or Level 3 Media Make-Up programmes, for those interested in expanding into creative and theatrical make-up artistry.
Apprenticeships in the beauty industry, combining hands-on salon experience with continued learning.
Employment as a junior beauty therapist, working in salons, spas, or wellness centres.
Specialist training courses, such as nail technology, massage therapy, or skincare, to build niche expertise.

What costs are involved?
Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ - ?1650 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): ?145 This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform, trips or books, that all students will be required to pay. Please contact the College for further details.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous throughout the course. You will be assessed using a variety of methods including observation, oral questioning, written questioning, online exams and assignment work. ?
