Today (4 April) is International Women in Tech Day, a global celebration of the incredible achievements and contributions of women working in the technology sector.Â
Officially proclaimed in 2024, this important awareness day is led by the WomenTech Network, supported by over 200 partners worldwide. Its aim is to drive awareness, inspire action, and promote inclusion for women in tech across the globe. With over 150,000 members in 179 countries, the movement is growing rapidly, and so is the momentum behind it.Â
More than just a single day of recognition, International Women in Tech Day is a call to ensure that women have equal opportunities in STEM fields and are empowered to innovate, lead, and thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.Â
At North Kent College, we’re proud to play our part in helping close the gender gap in tech. Our Computing & Games Development and Engineering courses are designed to give students, regardless of gender, the technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and confidence they need to pursue exciting, high-value careers in the digital and engineering sectors.Â
Our Computing & Games Development courses focus on real-world technical skills in areas like game design, software development, data handling, and IT communication – all taught using industry-standard tools and technologies.Â
Our Engineering Department offers courses in General, Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. Our workshops, laboratories and classrooms are designed to meet the highest industry standards, and our facilities include a machine shop with welding and fabrication facilities in addition to well-equipped electronic laboratories.Â
Women are still underrepresented in both industries, but that is changing. If you're passionate about tech or engineering and want to be part of that change, now is the perfect time to start.Â
