Students actors on a stage in a scene depicting a murder

National Actors’ Day on 8 September is a chance to celebrate the talent, creativity and hard work that goes into bringing stories to life, and to shine a spotlight on the next generation of performers.

For aspiring actors, getting the right training and experience can make all the difference. Our acclaimed Miskin Theatre at NKC Dartford College and MAC (Music and Arts Centre) at NKC Tonbridge College gives students the opportunity to learn, perform and develop their craft in a professional theatre environment, taught by experienced industry practitioners.

Our students do more than learn about acting, they get to put their skills into practice.

From Miskin to the industry

Miskin has a strong track record of helping aspiring performers take their next steps. Former students have gone on to successful careers across stage and screen, including Gemma Arterton, who has built an international acting career and now runs her own production company, Rebel Park Productions.

More recently, former Miskin student Imogen Faith Reid has been making her mark on screen, taking a leading role in the US drama series Good American Family.

And the success stories continue. Former student Kirsty J Curtis, who graduated in 2008, has gone on to work extensively on stage and screen, including a role in Reckless alongside Vinnie Jones and Scott Adkins.

More than acting

Developing performance skills is at the heart of the courses, and students also build confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and self-motivation as part of our focus on skills that can open doors both within the creative industries and beyond.

The North Kent Colleges Group experience is about helping students become well-trained, clear-thinking performers who are ready to take their next step, whether that's into the industry, further study or another career path.

So, this National Actors’ Day, why not ask yourself: could you see yourself on our stage?
