Accounting is one of the UK’s biggest and most vital industries, and today (10 November), we mark International Accounting Day, a celebration of the profession and the people who keep the financial world in order.

Accounting plays a central role in business success and economic stability. In fact, the wider financial services industry, which includes accountancy, contributed over £173 billion to the UK economy in 2021, around 8.3% of total output.

It’s also a fast-growing field, with more than 825,000 people working in accountancy across the UK, and businesses spending close to £30 billion on these services every year.

It’s a career that pays well too. Graduate chartered accountants can earn up to £40,000 while training, rising to around £65,000, and those fully qualified in business can expect average salaries of £134,000, plus bonuses.

If this is something that might be of interest to you, we offer a T Level in Accounting. This includes a minimum 45 day industry placement, which allows you to put into practice the skills you are learning at College in the workplace itself.
