Refrigeration students and teacher

Today (26 June) is World Refrigeration Day, a global campaign that celebrates the vital role refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat-pump technology plays in our everyday lives.

From keeping food safe to enabling vaccine distribution, from maintaining data centres to making hospitals comfortable for life-saving surgery, cooling really is at the heart of modern life. The systems that support all this, along with the skilled people behind them, help keep the world running safely, smoothly, and sustainably.

Set up by UK consultant Stephen Gill, this annual awareness day shines a light on the innovative engineering and behind-the-scenes heroes who design, maintain, and develop refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

At North Kent College, we’re proud to help train the next generation of engineers and technicians through our Refrigeration and Air Conditioning courses at our Gravesend Campus. Delivered by industry-qualified staff in well-equipped workshops, our courses prepare students for real-world roles and many go on to secure excellent Apprenticeships with trusted employers.

Whether you’re interested in sustainable energy, health technology, or high-tech engineering, this sector offers exciting and rewarding careers.

So if you’re considering a future in this essential industry, why not start your journey with us? Find out more by visiting the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning subject page on the North Kent College website.
