Athlete on track

The world’s best athletes are getting ready to shine in the capital as the Diamond League, one of the most prestigious events in the global athletics calendar, returns to London this weekend (Saturday 19 July).

Recognised internationally, the Diamond League features meets in countries including Italy, Germany, the USA, China and Sweden. Since its launch in 2010, it has grown into a major highlight of the athletics season, regularly selling out and attracting huge media attention.

This year’s series will conclude in Zurich, with athletes competing across 15 meets to earn points based on their finishing positions. The top performers from the season qualify for the final, where they’ll compete for the title of Diamond League Champion.

The London meet takes place at the iconic London Stadium and will showcase the very best in track and field, including homegrown talent such as Josh Kerr and Keely Hodgkinson.

Behind every elite athlete is a strong support system, and sports coaching and performance plays a crucial role in preparing athletes both mentally and physically. From building effective training strategies to fostering a focused mindset, this field combines knowledge of anatomy, psychology, and coaching technique to help athletes perform at their peak.
