Today, 21 June, isn’t just the summer solstice, it’s also the perfect time to turn up the volume and celebrate World Music Day, an international event dedicated to the joy and power of music.

Originating in France in 1982, World Music Day has grown into a global phenomenon, now marked in more than 1,000 cities across over 120 countries.

It’s a day when people are encouraged to take music out into their communities, whether it’s live performances in parks, pop-up gigs outside cafés, or spontaneous street sessions.

The beauty of World Music Day is that it welcomes everyone. From beginners to professionals, young to old, people across the world are invited to share their passion and talent—making all styles and genres of music accessible to everyone.

Here at North Kent College, music is more than a subject, it’s a creative journey. Our music courses are designed to help students turn their talent into a career, whether they dream of performing, composing, producing or working behind the scenes as a sound technician.

The courses are run from our highly acclaimed Miskin Theatre and students benefit from professionally equipped studios, rehearsal rooms and facilities, and work alongside experienced industry practitioners.
