Today (17 May) is World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the annual call for government, industry and communities to strengthen digital resilience worldwide.
This is a day that highlights the growing role of digital technologies in our lives and commemorates the founding of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) – the United Nations agency for Digital Technologies.
This year’s theme is digital lifelines, with the United Nations leading a What If? campaign highlighting the many interconnected digital systems that quietly support daily life and help keep today’s world running.
At North Kent College, we’re playing our part too.  Our computing courses are ideal for building practical skills vital to navigating a digital world that is shaping all our futures.
From developing software and programming to data management and the latest IT systems you’ll get access to cutting edge technology, expert guidance and all the support you’ll need to thrive.
Our BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Information & Creative Technology is a great way to get started in ICT, including an introduction to building apps and digital animation. You’ll be inspired and enthused to become more tech savvy (if you’re not already).
For more advanced study, there’s our Digital Software Development Course for students (aged 16 to 18) who have finished their GCSEs and want a practical, career focused alternative to A-levels.
This course includes both classroom learning and an industry placement with a real employer setting you up for university, higher apprenticeships or entry-level jobs in the growing digital and technology sector.
