So you want to be a designer ,stylist, design assistant, buyer, fashion magazine assistant, assist on fashion photoshoots, fashion blogger, fashion merchandiser, or garment technologist? This course will give you the technical skills and allow you to explore your creative ability to be able to succeed in the fashion business.

You will learn fashion drawing, sketching, sewing and garment making skills, styling, fashion research, fashion media, fashion history and pattern cutting. You will learn how to be able to present your work to a client/design director. You will learn the ability to develop and produce a personal project in your own identity. You will work with industry professionals on a range of industry relevant projects to help you to develop your creative and technical skills, supported by educational visits to exhibitions, galleries and fashion retail environments to widen your fashion knowledge. You will create a personal project of a final piece which will be shown to the public at the fashion show and in the end of exhibition held at the college.

Our Education Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and maths skills as required, depending on your GCSE results upon entry.

  • What qualification will I gain?

    UAL L2 Diploma in Art & Design (Fashion)

  • Entry Requirements

    Minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and preferably maths and one creative subject. Or an equivalent Level 1 Diploma in Art and Design at Merit or above. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor. (Applicants who are home schooled, with no formal qualifications, will be required to take college internal assessments; in addition to the below, to determine their suitability for the demands of the course).

    We also require a portfolio of work to be presented at interview. You will be set an interview task to bring along to your interview.

  • What progression options will I have?

    Progression onto the L3 Diploma in Fashion Course of your choice, dependant on final grade, attendance record and interview

  • What costs are involved?

    Tuition Fees: 16-18 - free 19+ - £1650 Exam and Registration Fees (payable by all aged 19 and over): £175 This course may also attract additional costs, for example, kit, uniform or books, that all students will be required to pay. Please contact the College for further details.
