Acting for Stage & Screen

North Kent College is excited to announce a new Performing Arts course at the Tonbridge campus, Acting for Stage and Screen.

Our Level 2 course is a one year course which is designed for young and aspiring actors to develop their confidence, skills for both stage and screen, along with other relevant and transferable skills related to the industry.

The course will allow our students to train in a professional working environment where they will collaborate with other passionate and driven performers in our well-equipped acting spaces. Our students will be treated as Actors and will be trained by Directors, already providing that bridge between FE and the industry. Actors will take part in a series of projects in both mediums of Theatre and Film.

All processes revolving around performing for Stage will see our actors take part in a series rehearsals and workshops designed to develop all the necessary skills required for producing Theatre. It is important that every actor understands how a production is produced, from what happens in the rehearsal room, to putting together pieces of set, and going through a technical stage before performing to a paying audience in our MAC Theatre.

Our actors will also get to experience what it is like to be an actor for screen in Camera lead projects. This will involve a similar process to stage where actors will go through a rehearsal process of working with script, introductions on how to set up and use Camera equipment, and finally working in front of the camera in a variety of different projects.

On Acting for Stage and Screen it is important that all our actors develop their practice and technique in many different approaches, where we hope to expand their skillset as a performer, whilst underpinning contextual knowledge of the performing arts industry.

It is our aim that our actors are trained to the highest standard, and as close to industry as possible, before looking to use the techniques and transferrable skills from the course into the next steps, be that progressing onto our Level 3 course, or alternative routes.
