The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Exercise and Fitness) is suited to students who wish to continue their academic studies in a specialised educational area. The course provides a solid grounding for students wishing to enter the world of personal training, fitness instructing or sports therapy and its associated industries, either through eventual progression to university or by entering employment.
During the course of the academic year, the units will be studied and assessed which will lead to achievement in a NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Working in Sport). On completion of the Diploma you will discuss with your tutors whether you wish to continue onto the Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science or NCFE LSport and Level 2 Fitness Instruction programme or to progress to employment or other courses in the area.
Units may include: - Introduction to Sports Massage; Introduction to Healthy Exercise & Nutrition; Participating in Sport; Physical Fitness & Injuries in Sport; Plan, Deliver & Evaluate an Activity Session; Prepare for Working in the Sport & Leisure Industry; Developing Personal Fitness.
The NCFE program will use continuous assessments and practical examinations. You will be able to track your performance as you work towards the pass, merit and distinction grades.
Methods of assessment will include: reports, presentations, practical demonstrations, fitness sessions, posters, leaflets, experiments, interviews and discussions.
The program is a combination of practical training and classroom theory sessions. Each lesson will provide you with assessment opportunities as you work to achieve your goals and targets. You will need to have an active passion in sport and fitness and your tutors will encourage you to discuss your own achievements as well as the issues in modern sport.
During the course, there will be opportunities to achieve other qualifications in addition to your main NCFE program. These additional qualifications may include work skills, drug awareness, first-aid, sport-specific coaching badges, gym instructing and other sport-related qualifications. Please note - there may be an additional cost to these courses.
Our Study Programme includes opportunities for you to develop your English and Maths skills as required. You may be expected to complete either functional skills or GCSE qualifications as part of your course depending on your GCSE results.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grades 4 and above; these must include English and Maths; PE is also desirable. Applicants must be willing to be involved in all aspects of sport and exercise, including practical as well as theoretical.

What progression options will I have?
What can I do when I finish my course? The majority of learner’s progress onto the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity & NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction course. If you want to progress into employment the following areas in the sport and leisure industry would be suitable; health & fitness, and leisure centre management.
