Thames Water continue to seek Apprentices from North Kent College.

Following their success of taking on apprentices from North Kent College, Thames Water were eager to visit Level 3 Engineering students to discuss their highly successful Apprenticeship programme.
The students listened to a presentation from Jason Styles, Thames Water Learning & Development Consultant (Waste Water), whom has been employed with the company for 17 years. Whilst discussing the range of Apprenticeships, the students heard how the 4 year programme can offer them progression and development, including the option of studying for a HNC/HND in Engineering. It is a highly coveted Apprenticeship, with a range of 800-100 applicants applying for around 40 spaces each year. Starting on a salary of £15,000 a year, and raising each year if the criteria is met, it provides a high quality Apprenticeship for any person interested, whether a current student or someone looking to change or develop their career.
Jason commented on their relationship with the college saying, “As an Alumni of the College myself, I was keen to see the students that North Kent College kept promoting as potential candidates. We visited last year, and took on two apprentices; Laura Strickland and Joseph Neighbour, who are progressing well on the programme. We came to the College as the students already have a BTEC awareness, and it is always good to see them consider Thames Water as a potential and viable career choice”.
Steve Crockford, Curriculum Manager Engineering, spoke highly of the programme, “We have had a strong relationship with Thames Water across a number of years where students have successfully completed the HNC in Engineering course. It was clear from the number of questions that the students were asking, that the apprenticeship opportunities offered by this company will be keenly followed, as indicated by the large number of students expressing interest both during and after the presentation and their willingness to complete an on-line application".
North Kent College are keen to continue to work with Thames Water to recruit apprentices and qualified staff from our current students, offering a high quality and successful progression route for the future.
