Urban Decay deliver industry talk to NKC students

8th June 2018

We were delighted to welcome back Kirsty Djajasaputra, one of our Beauty Alumni, who came in to do a makeup masterclass with our students.

Kirsty graduated with us in 2005 and is now currently a lead makeup artist with Urban Decay Cosmetics in London. She wanted to come back to NKC to talk to our students and inspire them with what they can achieve after they complete their course. Kirsty demonstrated a trendy and editorial makeup look alongside answering questions from the class, ranging from industry advice, makeup tips and she also discussed how she became so successful in the industry after studying at NKC.

Kirsty also showed the class some sneak peeks of new and exclusive Urban Decay makeup that is coming out later this year and used them in her editorial makeup look.

Kirsty commented, “The students were engaged and asked a lot of good questions about how to tackle the industry, which I got to share my advice on starting a career in makeup. I think they really enjoyed the editorial look that I created and they learnt a lot about layering, foiling, different trends and fun colours to use in makeup.”

After the masterclass students were allowed to purchase products from Kirsty, which they were given an incredible and generous 40% off. Students also stayed behind to talk to Kirsty individually, to get a more personal advice and feedback.

Curriculum Manager Beauty, Stacie Collings, commented, “The students are really lucky to have such amazing and professional people come in to learn from them. Also, we are now discussing about the students makeup kits and potentially upgrading them to an Urban Decay kit.

We are very grateful that Kirsty took the time to come in and inspire our students with their next steps and it was lovely to see the students being interactive and asking lots of questions. We look forward to Kirsty’s next visit and hope the students are inspired and determined for their future goals and aspirations.
