A talented student from North Kent College has been awarded a highly sought-after full scholarship to one of the UK’s most respected performing arts colleges.

Will Coldwell (pictured above), who studies Dance and Musical Theatre at the College’s Dartford campus, was selected for the scholarship at Laine Theatre Arts, following an audition at last year’s CYD? (Can You Dance?) Super Convention, an annual event that draws some of the industry’s top educators and scouts.

His performance caught the eye of Laine Theatre Arts Principal and Artistic Director, Matt Cole, along with a panel of senior faculty members, who offered Will a place and a full scholarship to train at the Surrey-based school.

Will hopes to follow in the footsteps of many Laine Theatre Arts alumni, with the College having a history of feeding artists into West End theatre, dance companies, television, film, pop music and other high-profile areas of the entertainments industry all over the world.

Vicky Wyatt, Head of Curriculum - Dance and Musical Theatre at North Kent College, shared her delight at Will’s achievement: “This marks a major milestone for Will, who has worked tirelessly toward his goal of training at his dream college. Scholarships of this kind are extremely rare and are only awarded to the most promising emerging talent, we couldn’t be prouder of Will’s success!”

Dance and Musical Theatre students at North Kent College study at its highly acclaimed Miskin Theatre which features a range of state-of-the-art facilities including: three large dance studios and a musical theatre space as well as a theatre for its renowned shows.
